Bateekh's Debut Film "Yerham": A Story of Loss, Healing, and Homecoming

We're thrilled to announce our debut film project under the banner of Bateekh: "Yerham." This poignant narrative, meaning "to have mercy on" in Arabic, delves into the raw emotions surrounding loss, grief, and family bonds. Set in the heart of Kansas City, Missouri, "Yerham" promises to be a compelling and authentic exploration of the human experience.

At the helm of "Yerham" is Khitam Jabr, a talented storyteller whose own experiences serve as the inspiration behind this deeply personal tale. The script, spanning 20 pages, follows Khitam's journey as she returns home to mourn with her family following the devastating loss of her brother to suicide. Through Khitam's eyes, viewers will navigate the complexities of grief, the dynamics of familial relationships, and the search for solace in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

What sets "Yerham" apart is its commitment to authenticity. Drawing from real-life events, Khitam's narrative offers a raw and unflinching portrayal of loss and its aftermath. By shining a light on the often-taboo topic of suicide within the Arab-American community, "Yerham" seeks to foster understanding, empathy, and healing.

Scheduled for production from March 8th to March 11th, 2024, "Yerham" will feature a talented crew of local professionals. By collaborating with local talent, we not only support our community but also ensure an authentic portrayal of the film's setting and characters.
